Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic £11m in earnings.

She received almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a new level".

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
