LeBron James Set to Miss Opening of NBA Campaign due to Sciatic Nerve Pain.

The Lakers superstar has been ruled out for around four weeks and is confirmed to miss the start of the basketball season due to sciatic issues, LA Lakers announced.

James, aged 40, inked a fresh deal with the Lakers in the month of June and is set to become the first player to compete across 23 distinct seasons.

Sciatic nerve issues refers to discomfort in the sciatic nerve that travels down the back and down the leg.

The athlete has not taken part in preseason and was out for the games against the Warriors and the Phoenix Suns earlier this month because of the glute nerve irritation.

James will likely miss for each of the five of the Lakers' games in October, including the first game against the Warriors.

The star, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, has never previously missed the opening of the season in his two-decade-plus career.

His count of one thousand five hundred sixty-two regular-season appearances is merely 50 less than overtaking former Celtics star Robert Parish's all-time record.

The title winner featured in seventy of the team's eighty-two games the previous campaign and was active for 71 games in the previous year.

In the most recent campaign, James posted 24.4 points, more than 8 assists and nearly 8 rebounds per game and placed sixth in the Most Valuable Player vote.

The Lakers reached the play-offs in 2024-25 but lost in five games against the Timberwolves in the first round.
