Iconic Singer Barry Manilow Will Have a Procedure for a Lung Cancer Diagnosis.

Barry Manilow announced that he has been diagnosed with a cancerous growth in his lung and will undergo an operation.

Spot Found in Initial Phase

The 82-year-old singer, known for a string of upbeat chart-toppers from "Copacabana" has made him one of pop music’s enduringly popular performers, will have a procedure to remove part of his lung in an effort to treat the illness, which is at an early phase.

ā€œFor those who have been following, I recently endured six weeks of a bronchial infection followed by a recurrence of another five weeks.

ā€œAlthough I was over the bronchitis and returned to the spotlight at the Westgate Las Vegas, my excellent physician ordered an MRI just to make sure that there were no issues.

ā€œThe MRI identified a malignant lesion on my left lung that must be removed. It’s pure luck (and a skilled doctor) that it was found so early.ā€

Postponed Performances

He has delayed a series of forthcoming concerts, but suggested he would be returning to perform by mid-February for his longstanding concert series at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino.

He went on to say: ā€œThe doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiotherapy. Just rest and recuperation and classic TV.

ā€œI’m looking forward to until I come back to my home away from home at the Westgate Las Vegas for our February love-themed shows.ā€

A Long Career and Personal Life

Manilow is now in the 16th year of a residency in Nevada. The singer has spent decades in the spotlight and publicly identified as gay in 2017, after marrying his longtime partner and manager in secret in 2014.

The duo were in a private partnership for in excess of 35 years. Last year, Manilow reflected on how vital Kief had been to him during his explosion in popularity in the 1970s.

ā€œAs my career exploded, it was just crazy. And, you know, coming home to an empty hotel room, you can get into a lot of difficulty if you, you know, you’re alone evening after evening,ā€ he said.

ā€œBut I found my partner right around when it was exploding. And I didn’t have to go back to those lonesome rooms. I had a person to share sorrows with or to share joys with.

ā€œI desire that aspiring artists don’t have to go back to those suites by themselves, because you get yourself in trouble. I never did. But it was pretty lonely until I met Garry. And then it was fun.ā€
