Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
