Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year because of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

These plans are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the deciding set versus Zhu because of the lower back problem that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role ahead of the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
