Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell like this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
