An investigation has found that close to 90 aircraft journeys linked to Jeffrey Epstein are said to have landed at and took off from UK airports, with some reportedly carrying women from the UK who claim they were abused by the convicted child sex offender.
The travel manifests were among thousands of legal papers and files released by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been released over the previous twelve months. The investigation uncovered 87 aircraft movements linked to Epstein â featuring many that were previously unknown â coming into or leaving from UK airports between the start of the 1990s and 2018.
Unnamed âfemalesâ were documented among the travelers entering and exiting the UK. Notably, 15 of these UK flights happened subsequent to Epsteinâs 2008 guilty verdict for procuring prostitution from a minor.
âIt was âappallingâ that there had never been a âfull-scale UK investigationâ into his dealings in the country,â said American attorneys acting for hundreds of Epstein victims.
Testimony from one of the UK-based survivors was instrumental in convicting Epsteinâs accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. Yet, that individual has not received any contact by UK authorities, as stated by her Florida-based lawyer.
In a response, the London's Metropolitan Police said they had ânot received any additional evidence that would support restarting the inquiry.â They noted, âShould new and relevant information be brought to our attention, encompassing any arising from the disclosure of documents in the US, we will assess it.â
Proposed legislation to release all files held by the US government in relation to Epstein was approved by the US Congress last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to follow through. A vast number of files are expected to be released.
Additionally, a US judge ruled last week that the DOJ could publicly release evidence from a trafficking prosecution against Maxwell, Epsteinâs close friend, who is currently serving a 20-year jail term over the charges.
